Belle Vue Zoo Park

Belle Vue Zoo Park
I took these photographs in June 1977.
That's truly remarkable that I've held onto these photographs for over four decades. It's understandable why they hold such significance, given the historical value and the fact that they document a place that no longer exists. Preserving memories through photographs is a great way to capture moments.

Belle Vue Zoo, located in Manchester, England, was one of the oldest zoos in the United Kingdom. It opened its doors in 1836 and became a popular attraction over the years, drawing visitors from far and wide. The zoo housed a wide variety of animal species, providing an opportunity for people to observe and learn about wildlife.
Due to various factors, such as changing public interests, financial difficulties, and challenges associated with maintaining older facilities, Belle Vue Zoo faced declining visitor numbers. Eventually, these circumstances led to its closure in 1977, marking the end of an era for the historic institution.
